1. Who We Are

Safe Lifting UK is a lifting operations reference application serving the UK lifting and rigging industry. The application is operated in association with Wolf Lifting Dynamics, a specialist lifting operations consultancy providing Appointed Person services, crane planning, and CDM support across the United Kingdom.

For any privacy-related enquiries, please contact us via wolflifting.uk.

2. What Data We Collect

This application is designed to collect as little personal data as possible. The application operates primarily as a client-side reference tool and does not require account registration or login.

The categories of data that may be collected or processed include:

Technical data: Standard server access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, date and time of access) that are automatically generated when you visit the application. These are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and performance purposes.
Usage data: Aggregate, anonymised information about how the application is used (e.g. which reference sections are most accessed). This data does not identify individual users.
Device data: If you install the application as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on your device, the application stores content locally via your browser's cache and service worker. This data does not leave your device.
Form data (if applicable): If you use the Lift Plan summary feature, any data entered is processed locally in your browser and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
3. How We Use Your Data

Any data collected is used solely for the following purposes:

To deliver and maintain the Safe Lifting UK application and its content
To monitor and improve application performance, stability, and security
To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the reference content
To comply with legal obligations under UK law

We do not use your data for marketing purposes, profiling, or automated decision-making. We do not sell personal data to third parties.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

This application may use the following browser storage mechanisms:

Service Worker cache: Used to enable offline functionality as part of the Progressive Web App. Cached content is stored on your device and is used only to display the application when an internet connection is unavailable.
Local storage: Used to retain in-session preferences (such as the active tab) for your convenience. No personal data is stored in local storage.
Session cookies: Standard session cookies may be set by your browser or by Netlify (our hosting provider) for performance and security purposes. These do not contain personal data.

You can manage or clear cookies and cached data at any time through your browser or device settings. Doing so may affect offline functionality.

5. Third-Party Services

This application makes use of the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:

Google Fonts: Fonts (Barlow and Barlow Condensed) are loaded from Google's servers, which may collect your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.
jsDelivr CDN: Icon assets are loaded from the jsDelivr content delivery network. See jsDelivr's Privacy Policy.
Netlify: This application is hosted on Netlify's infrastructure. Netlify may process technical data as part of hosting operations. See Netlify's Privacy Policy.
External links: This application contains links to external websites including wolflifting.uk and skool.com. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. Please review their privacy policies before engaging.
6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any data associated with the application. The application is served over HTTPS, and we use established hosting infrastructure (Netlify) with appropriate security controls.

As the application does not process sensitive personal data and does not transmit user-entered data to our servers, the risk profile associated with its use is low.

7. Data Sharing and Transfers

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. Technical data may be shared with Netlify solely for the purpose of hosting and operating the application. Netlify processes data in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.

We may disclose data where required to do so by law, regulation, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

8. Data Retention

Server access logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and operational purposes, after which they are deleted. Aggregate, anonymised usage data does not contain personal information and is retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.

Data stored locally on your device (service worker cache, local storage) persists until you clear it through your browser or device settings, or until you uninstall the PWA.

9. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights in relation to any personal data we hold about you:

Right of access: You may request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification: You may request that inaccurate personal data be corrected.
Right to erasure: You may request that your personal data be deleted, subject to certain legal exceptions.
Right to restriction: You may request that processing of your data be restricted in certain circumstances.
Right to object: You may object to certain types of processing, including processing for direct marketing purposes.
Right to data portability: Where processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means, you may request your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via wolflifting.uk. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe your rights have not been respected.

10. Children's Privacy

This application is intended for use by industry professionals and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the functionality of the application. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the application following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
